WITCH VOMIT - A Scream from the Tomb Below (CD)
SOLD OUT.
If there´s one place in the U.S. where underground Death Metal is brimming with talent as of lately, that´s Portland (Oregon). Bands such as Torture Rack, Sempiternal Dusk, Symptom, Ritual Necromancy, Shroud of the Heretic or Triumvir Foul have been critically acclaimed worldwide, and now it´s time to add a new name to the list: Witch Vomit. Formed back in 2012 and featuring members of other local acts such as Torture Rack and Brain Rot, these disciples of rottenness and putrefaction have just excreted their debut full-length album, "A Scream from the Tomb Below", that´s a filth-ridden, skin-peeling and gory mess of ancient Swedish Death Metal and Death/Doom Metal influenced by the likes of Nihilist/Entombed, Autopsy, Carnage, Impetigo, Convulse, Grave, Asphyx, Incantation, Bolt Thrower, Demigod, early Darkthrone, Crematory and Disgrace. The music is an exercise in throbbing, pulsating Death Metal that will scar your soul and turn it inside out. The intent is malicious and evil, the air is rife with a sewer-like stench and the sound is darker than your past. "A Scream from the Tomb Below" could very well be this year´s underground Death Metal highlight, for Witch Vomit do everything right by the long-established underground standards, and foul it up some more just for the extra repulsive value. Recorded and mixed at Red Lantern Studios (U.S.A.). Mastered by Damian Herring (of Horrendous fame) at Subterranean Watchtower Studios (U.S.A.). Cover art by Matt Stikker. Layout by Ola Sjöberg (of God Macabre fame).
