The debut EP by this Brazilian band. Cosmophage mangle mind and body with gutted ‘n’ angular Death Metal of a most mid-90’s vintage. The spectre of Sinister looms large here, but the Dutch legends’ classic works more so form a foundation for Cosmophage ​to find their own voice. And indeed they do across these 6 songs, slashing one minute, stomping the next, working in walking-backwards riffing as well as copious displays of brute strength, but always with a view ​to violate expectations of where a song could go next. Not so much “tech” as just “fully fried”,  “Sidereal Malignancy” is a bountiful feast for Death Metal diehards who prize brainy brutality and suitably crushing production.
